Public civil aviation frequencies received by our own stations. The live service uses no LiveATC or other third-party audio.

Aircraft positions
Community ADS-B data (adsb.lol, adsb.fi); currently down, fix in progress.
Accuracy
We audit samples regularly and publish the results. Latest: 77% of subtitles usable as-is (an optimistic estimate); about 9 in 10 callsigns correct (35/39).
Privacy
All emergency transmissions are hidden from public pages, individuals are not identified, and private community chat is never quoted.
Corrections
Email us about an error and we will fix it and note the change.

Baggage system: the journey of one transmission

  1. 01ReceiveA receiver station picks up the tower frequency and uploads each call as it ends. Today there is one station, on Taoyuan Tower 118.7. We are looking for hosts for ground control, Songshan and Kaohsiung.
  2. 02StoreAudio goes to cloud storage, the record goes to the database, and live listeners get it immediately.
  3. 03TranscribeGoogle Gemini produces the English transcript and separates controller from pilot, guided by callsigns from the current flight schedule.
  4. 04Check and translateThe Chinese translation and clearance tags are added, and numbers are checked against real runway, taxiway and frequency data. Anything implausible is marked as unclear.
  5. 05PublishThe live view, search, timeline and flight pages update together.

Measured 27 Sep 2026 (231 clips, excluding clips interrupted by deploys): end of call to subtitle written, median 6.8 s, p90 13.5 s. The 30-second design target is not a service guarantee.

CI28: A Complete Record of an Uninvestigated Event

On 2 November 2019, an unidentified man climbed into the main gear bay of China Airlines CI28 at Taipei Taoyuan; the crew of Asiana 712, holding behind, spotted him and called Taipei Tower. The event falls outside TTSB's safety-investigation mandate, and no standalone CAA bulletin was issued — so no official report exists. In its absence, four minutes of tower audio plus press coverage are the only widely-circulated public record. This piece archives that material in an indexed, citable, traceable structure — as an example of how an uninvestigated event can still be fully recorded.

CI202: Nineteen Days of Silence — How the Public Saw the Truth First

On 14 June 2020, a China Airlines A330 landed at Taipei Songshan with all three primary flight-control computers failing near-simultaneously; manual braking stopped the aircraft 9 metres from the runway end. Public reporting appeared 19 days later; the TTSB final report took 15 months. Inside that gap, public data was scarce in kind. This piece argues why ATC tower audio reached the public record faster than the investigation did, and what its specific place is among ADS-B, NOTAM, and DFDR.

Who we are

hungATC is independently built and operated by its founder. The YouTube channel started in 2019, subtitling tower audio from Taiwanese aviation occurrences in English and Chinese; Chien Digital Inc. was founded in 2024; since 2026 the work has moved into AI R&D and a live service. We also run the “台灣航空交流社群” LINE community, which on typhoon nights and special-flight days is our most direct source of feedback.

When CI202 stopped short at Songshan in 2020, the official report took 15 months; the tower audio that news outlets used in the meantime was released by hungATC. We provide material you can verify: audio, transcript, Chinese translation and timeline, every line linked back to the recording.
